North Durham resigned at the end of the first season and were replaced in 1906 by Boldon. Chester-le-Street joined in 1908 and this remained the complement until 1946 when Horden took the place of Hendon who disbanded in 1940.

Gateshead Fell and North Durham were admitted in 1961 but the programme remained limited to 22 matches until 1963 when a full 26 game fixture list was introduced.

North Durham resigned before the start of the 1991 season with clubs playing 24 matches having two blank dates during the season.

Hetton Lyons were admitted in 2000 and with 11 clubs now in the League the fixture list was reduced to 20 matches.

At the Annual General Meeting in December 2001, Philadelphia resigned to join the North East Premier League. Marsden and South Hetton were admitted to make the League up to twelve clubs.

At the Annual General Meeting in December 2005, Hetton Lyons were promoted to the North East Premier League and Philadelphia were relegated back to the Durham Senior Cricket League.

At the Annual General Meeting in December 2006, South Shields were promoted to the North East Premier League and Hetton Lyons were relegated back to the Durham Senior Cricket League.
