Durham Senior Cricket League: Wilkinson Cup Winners 2007

The 2008 cricket Season is the start of a new era, not only in our league,but throughout the county. I'm sure that all of our clubs will rise to the challenge of the new pyramid system.

On a disappointing note and at short notice our sponsors for the last three yearsof a four year deal, Newcastle Greweries were taken over by Carlsberg and Heineken UK and sponsorship ceased immediately.

Our secretary Ray Matthews as usual worked very hard in seeking a replacement, having spoken to many organisations and in early April achieved an excellent scalp in securing Warmseal to take over for 2008 and hopefully beyond.

I also look forward to working with our new president, Eric Smith, and I hope we get plenty of sunshine to play this wonderful game of cricket throughout the forthcoming season.

Once again, good luck to all of our clubs both on and off the field of play in 2008.
